Paradigm Reporters Provide Pro Bono Services for Historic Hearings Regarding Liberians in Diaspora – June 9-14, 2008
Paradigm court reporters Sherri Flagg, Liz Gangl, Mary Mitchell and Cindy Schultz, among a group of several others, provided pro bono court reporting services during the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's public hearings held June 9-14, 2008, at Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota. The Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights was instrumental in facilitating the Commission's hearings and locating Liberians who have now resettled in the United States so that they could tell their stories. Witnesses testified about human rights abuses in Liberia that forced them to flee, their experiences in flight and in refugee camps, and the experience of resettlement in the United States.

Paradigm Provides Broadcast Captioning for Senator Barack Obama's Democractic Nomination Announcement – June 3, 2008
Paradigm Reporting & Captioning was pleased to provide broadcast captioning for the announcement by Senator Barack Obama of his Democratic nomination for president at the Xcel Energy Center in Downtown St. Paul on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008. Captioner Lisa Richardson, RPR, CRR, CBC, CCP, one of the partners of Paradigm, was once again called upon to bring this historic political event to life for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing communities. Lisa has extensive experience captioning in the political arena. In addition to captioning the Minnesota Legislature live while in session for over ten years, Lisa has captioned President Bill Clinton, Governor Tim Pawlenty, Governor Jesse Ventura, Governor Tom Vilsack, Governor Bill Jankow and Governor Mike Rounds. In addition, Lisa and Paradigm provided web-streamed captioning for the memorial service of Senator Paul Wellstone.

Paradigm Digital Videography Filmmakers Debut Local Films at the Riverview Theater in Minneapolis – February 29, 2008
Paradigm Digital Videography debuted its short film, A Tale of Two Lawyers, on Leap Day 2008 at a reporter training event sponsored by "Paradigm U." Written, directed and produced by PDV's own Chars Bonin, the film vividly demonstrates the benefits that can be derived from embracing today's videoconferencing technologies. Matt Kowalski, also of PDV, assisted in an associate producer role. Both Chars and Matt make cameo appearances in the film; Chars as the referee and Matt as the coffee-tossing driver. The roles of the court reporters are played by Paradigm Reporting & Captioning's Sheila Ford, RPR, CRR, and Lori Sorenson, RMR.

Paradigm Reporters Become LiveNote Certified – January 12, 2008
On Saturday, January 12th, 2008, nine of Paradigm's top realtime reporters received training from national LiveNote trainer Pam Marty in our offices in the Rand Tower. The all-day session provided in-depth information as to the software's applications as well as solidified best practices for troubleshooting realtime connections issues at the deposition site. Reporters were trained in assisting attorneys in connecting to court reporters via LiveNote software. The training concluded in a written knowledge test followed by a hands-on individual trouble-shooting. All nine reporters passed the certification testing and now enjoy the additional credential of "Certified LiveNote Reporter" (CLR).

Paradigm Receives Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award – February 15, 2007
The Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce celebrated their Annual Member Celebration at the Hyatt Minneapolis. The celebration included several prestigious awards. Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce press release states: "The Small Business of the Year Award was presented to Paradigm Reporting & Captioning Inc. for their commitment to excellence in court reporting (legal), closed-captioning for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, as well as video conferencing and digital videography. Paradigm Reporting & Captioning Inc. partners with small businesses within the community to provide the services upon which people have come to depend."

Partner Lisa Richardson Bestowed Coveted Distinguished Service Award – October 14, 2006
Lisa Richardson, RPR, CRR, CCP, CBC, was awarded the highest honor bestowed upon court reporters by the Minnesota Association of Verbatim Reporters & Captioners (MAVRC). Lisa was named the 2006 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award (DSA). The DSA is presented to a member of MAVRC who has performed uncommon service to the reporting profession and to the association. Criteria considered and weighed includes the member's years of service, contributions to the profession, reputation in the community, and leadership qualities. The award was presented during MAVRC's annual business meeting held at the Radisson Hotel in Plymouth, Minnesota. The very appropos plaque Lisa received read: "Never doubt a thoughtful, committed person can change the world. Your accomplishments have greatly affected our organization."
